Landon Helms, a Texas A&M signee representing Emmett High in Idaho, won the men's 17-18 decathlon with 6,988 points and captured the pole vault title with a first-attempt clearance at 16-4.75 (5.00m) at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships at Hornet Stadium at Sacramento State. Helms also finished second in the 110-meter hurdles final in a wind-legal 13.98 seconds.
