Landon Helms 1st Place Boys Decathlon - Nike Outdoor Nationals 2022

Landon Helms of Emmett High in Idaho, a Texas A&M signee, won the boys decathlon national championship with a personal-best 7,051 points at Nike Outdoor Nationals at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore. Helms became the first male athlete from Idaho to win the decathlon title in meet history, relying on running 13.92 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, throwing 139-9 (42.60m) in the discus and clearing 17-0.75 (5.20m) in the pole vault to rally from sixth place following the opening day to secure a lead he would not relinquish entering the final two events.
